Class attendance in the competition classes will not count towards your rank or teaching requirements.

This class may not occur for lack of instructors, at some times. Please keep an eye on the website, the newsletter as changes to the schedule may occur.

The competition program encourages the use of official specialized equipment for Kata and Kumite. This equipment is not typically used in the general program classes.
However, you can bring your normal equipment as that will be accepted in the competition program.

This program is very challenging and requires every student to bring their best behavior and spirit. This program is optional and instructors reserve the right to unregister students from the program.

Summary. Bring (mandatory):

• Set of light dumbbells

• Set of medium dumbbells

• T-shirt and Gi pants (pack your kata Gi top)

• Water (plenty)

• Kumite Gloves, mouthguard

Optional:

• shin guards for Kumite

• Chest protectors

• Kumite Gi

Fitness and Strength Section:
Attire: T-Shirt w/ Gi Pants
Bring: Light-weights and Medium-weights (dumbbells)

Kata:
Attire: Full Kata Gi
Note: unless on a very specific exception, everyone does Kata.

Kumite:
Attire: Full Kumite Gi (can be the same as Kata, if you dont have specialized Gis)
Bring: Mouth Guard, Gloves (required).
Bring: Shin-Guards w/ instep, chest protector, head protector (recommended).

There are several competitions throughout the year. Local, National and international. They are all optional, but they are encouraged to attend, especially local ones.

Competition rules usually group athletes by their proficiency, rank and/or age. This program is design to teach all ranks. On occasion, some classes may be designed for specific target groups.

WSA Does not restrict to a single affialition. We are connected to:
- USA National Karate Federation (NKF)
- Amateur Athletic Union (AAU)
- USA Karate Federation/USA Martial Arts Federation (USAKF)
- WUKF
- WKF

There are some rivalries between some of these Federations and WSA will abide by equipment requirements and stand outside any rivalry. WSA will always choose the best for their students.

Broader Kata Lessons will be Taught
